Meet Clinical Medical Assistant Student Avery Fisher!
Avery Fisher started her journey at West Virginia Junior College in August 2021. Avery chose the Clinical Medical Assistant program, which allows her to obtain her associate’s degree in 18 months. She chose the West Virginia Junior College Morgantown because “WVJC has shorter programs where you can graduate after a few months and start working immediately.”
Avery joined our WVJC family straight out of high school. As a first-time college student, Avery felt a bit nervous initially but said her instructors made her feel right at home, and she quickly befriended her classmates. According to Avery, her favorite instructors are Carrie Friend and Dustin Blankenship because “they are simply amazing at what they do!”
Avery looked into and eventually enrolled in the Clinical Medical Assistant program because she “wanted to learn all the basics before going on to be a nurse.” Because she is so excited about hands-on work in the field, it is no surprise that Avery says she most looks forward to completing the externship course, where she will gain practical experience in-field working with doctors and patients.
While Avery’s ultimate goal is to become a nurse, she is just as excited to graduate and join the workforce as a clinical medical assistant. She hopes to work in labor and delivery or OBGYN. Thanks to her experience with WVJC, she is also looking forward to being financially stable and finding the security of a great job you love!
