Meet Chad Callen!

West Virginia Junior College (WVJC) is excited to announce that Chad Callen, WVJC’s Chief Executive Officer, has been named to the State Journal’s highly respected Generation Next: 40 Under 40 list for 2025. Chad Callen

The Callen family has a long history of educational progress in the Mountain State. Their legacy began in 1958 when the Callens assumed administration of the Morgantown Business College, which is now West Virginia Junior College. Over three generations, the Callen family has operated the school, expanding to include locations across the state and an online division.

Chad Callen began his journey in education in 2010, when he was tasked with developing the school’s online presence. Through his leadership and development, WVJC Online has expanded to prepare thousands of students across West Virginia and the surrounding states for their careers in nursing, allied healthcare, and professional services.

As a West Virginia native, Chad understands the importance of high-quality education in the Mountain State. Through his initiatives, WVJC has developed online and hybrid programs to bring career training to rural areas of the state, aiming to address workforce shortages in fields such as healthcare, including Nursing, Respiratory Therapy, and more.

The Generation Next: 40 Under 40 list embodies leaders who are making a significant impact on business, education, public service, and health across West Virginia. Those who are recognized play an essential role in shaping the future of the state for generations to come.

“I’m humbled and honored to be included in The State Journal’s Generation Next series– but the truth is, this recognition belongs to the incredible team at WVJC. Their passion, commitment, and tireless work are what bring our vision to life each day,” said Chad Callen. “I’m constantly inspired by the way they show up for our students and each other.”

Chad Callen’s inclusion in the Generation Next: 40 Under 40 list highlights a leader who is focused on the future of education in West Virginia. Not only does Chad uphold WVJC’s core values —Work Ethic, Exemplary, Caring, Accountability, Relationships, and Excellence —but he also honors the rich heritage of WVJC while moving the college toward the future. His story is a testament to innovation, family values, and a passionate belief in the people of West Virginia.

WVJC congratulates Chad Callen and all other West Virginia leaders on the 2025 Generation Next: 40 Under 40 list!
