An estimated 44,000 openings for dental assistants are projected each year, on average, over the next ten years. Thus, choosing to become a dental assistant is a popular choice for eager individuals looking to enter the field of dentistry.
WVJC offers an education in dental assisting that goes beyond classroom activity, as it partners with dental offices throughout the state to provide externship experiences for students. While at these sites, students participate and observe the daily routines that take place in a dental office. After the initial few days of observation, students are given opportunities to work directly with licensed dentists and dental hygienists to get direct patient care experience.
Conde & Malone Family Dentistry is located in beautiful Buckhannon, West Virginia. This fantastic externship site provides a true “hands-on” experience for dental assisting students with the help of the dental preceptors, Dr. Kevin Conde, Dr. Matthew Malone, and the newest addition of Dr. Maggie Malone. Alongside these highly skilled dentists, our students get a real-life experience and an opportunity to see how an efficient dental facility is operated. This well-equipped dental facility offers many services, including general dentistry, preventive care, crown and bridgework, extractions, root canal therapy, and dental implants, allowing WVJC students to observe and assist in various dental procedures.
