Legal Office Assisting Graduate – Kristin Hatfield

Kristin Hatfield

When Kristin Hatfield graduated from Bridgeport High School in 2015, she knew she wanted to go to college. She enrolled at Fairmont State University to study Exercise Physiology. At that time, her goal was to become a physical therapist. Kristin found it difficult to balance being a full time student and working full time. She was also planning a wedding. She left school and began working for a family friend who is a lawyer. The work Kristin was doing piqued her interest in the legal field.

Soon after, Kristin decided to continue her education. This time, she decided to pursue Legal Office Assisting. “I heard about WVJC and decided to give it a shot,” she says. “I did not think I was going to be able to afford it, but I got help from WVJC’s financial staff and we were able to work it out.”

She attributes her success to her support network, which includes her fiancé, her family, and her instructors at WVJC. “Bryce Adkins was very helpful to me and even encouraged me when times got tough. If it wasn’t for him, I would not have my certificate,” she says. Kristin’s advice to future students is to “push and never give up”.
