WVJC Awarded the Milan Puskar Entrepreneur of the Year Award

On April 24th, 2025, West Virginia Junior College (WVJC) had the honor of being awarded the prestigious Milan Puskar Entrepreneur of the Year Award. The award was presented to WVJC representatives during the Morgantown Area Partnership’s annual dinner.

Milan Puskar Entrepreneur of the Year Award

Each year, the Morgantown Area Partnership selects businesses in Northern West Virginia that are making significant improvements to the community. Included in these awards are the Small, Mid-Size, and Large Business of the Year, New Business and Non-Profit of the Year, Milan Puskar Entrepreneur of the Year, the prestigious Earl L. Core Community Service Award, and the Chairman’s Award.

“Being honored with the Milan Puskar Entrepreneur of the Year Award is more than an award; it is a reflection of our commitment to transforming lives through education,” said Chad Callen, CEO of WVJC. “We are excited about what lies ahead, and thank the Morgantown Area Partnership for this recognition.”

WVJC was selected for this award due to the significant impact the college has had on the nursing profession and its initiatives to combat nursing shortages across West Virginia. Through an innovative hybrid, online delivery model and a fleet of mobile simulation labs, the college brings high-quality nursing education to both urban and rural communities. With more than 800 nursing students enrolled across 12 locations, WVJC continues strengthening its partnerships with leading hospitals and healthcare providers across the state.

In addition to academic innovation, WVJC has also worked to destigmatize mental health concerns in nursing students through a unique partnership with Moodr Health. This collaboration offers students mental health services, including virtual therapy and access to resources, to ensure they are not only career-ready but also well-equipped to manage the stressors of a nursing career.

These efforts exemplify the entrepreneurial mindset that earned WVJC this distinguished recognition. By blending academic excellence, community service, and forward-thinking solutions, WVJC continues to drive positive change across West Virginia.

WVJC extends its heartfelt thanks to the Morgantown Area Partnership and all those who contribute to the college’s ongoing success. The Milan Puskar Entrepreneur of the Year Award is a shared honor—and a powerful motivator to keep pushing boundaries in education and beyond.
