West Virginia Junior College Bridgeport is excited to announce our new hybrid Nursing program. This will provide nursing training that now spans Route 50 width of the state, from Parkersburg to Martinsburg, WV.
WVJC began offering an ADN program in June 2020. The inaugural class of 30 students completed their program in December 2021. The second cohort of students started their journey in June 2021 and are expected to graduate in December 2022. Not only is WVJC Bridgeport’s third cohort starting in June 2022, but we are excited to announce the expansion of the Nursing program to now include a hybrid online offering in both Martinsburg and Parkersburg, WV, which will begin in September 2022.
This new program will provide the same high-quality educational experiences as the in-person nursing program offered at the Bridgeport location, with the added flexibility of the hybrid online model. Coursework traditionally completed in the classroom setting will be available to students in an online delivery method. Clinical experiences will be completed at local healthcare facilities and hospital partners in the Martinsburg and Parkersburg areas. In addition to those clinical sites, WVJC will be adding a Mobile Nursing Lab to the WVJC fleet to provide lab and clinical experiences for students enrolled in the Martinsburg and Parkersburg programs.
West Virginia Junior College Bridgeport is committed to investing in the training of highly qualified nurses and retaining those nurses after graduation. The college works closely with the WV Nursing Scholarship program, which provides financial assistance to those in their second year of an approved West Virginia nursing school.
The nursing shortage in West Virginia is at a critical state, and West Virginia Junior College is proud to serve our state in preparing the nurses of tomorrow.
