Internal Scholarships

General Scholarships*

West Virginia Friends of Coal Miners: Awarded to past and present coal company employees and their families.

Alumni Legacy: Granted to family members of WVJC graduates.

Academic Success: Based on academic achievement and credential level.

Armed Services: Dedicated to those who sacrificed by volunteering for duty in a branch of the armed services.

Vandalia Health System Employee: Available to current employees affiliated with the Vandalia Health System who have been accepted into one of the institution’s diploma, associate degree, or bachelor degree programs.

Medical Assisting Pathway°: For individuals who have completed the Phlebotomy program, passed the certification exam, and wish to continue to the Clinical Medical Assistant associate degree or Medical Assisting diploma programs.

High School Equivalency Scholarship**: Up to six individuals per year who’ve successfully completed their High School Equivalency test and are enrolled in a diploma or degree program.

Career Enhancement***: For employees of participating businesses to enhance job skills and value to the employer.

Buckeye Online College***: Promotes higher education for Ohio residents who prefer to obtain their college degrees through an online platform.

Keystone State Online College***: Promotes higher education for Pennsylvania residents who prefer to obtain their college degrees through an online platform.

Chesapeake Online College***: Promotes higher education for Maryland residents who prefer to obtain their college degrees through an online platform.

Old Dominion Online College***: Promotes higher education for Virginia residents who prefer to obtain their college degrees through an online platform.

Bluegrass State Online College***: Promotes higher education for Kentucky residents who prefer to obtain their college degrees through an online platform.

Career Fast-Track^: For those who recently lost jobs due to business closure or reduced workforce.

Nursing Scholarships*

Nursing Pathway: For WVJC’s allied health program graduates desiring to pursue nursing careers.

UHC Scholarship for Advancement in Nursing°: For residential employees with UHC in good standing wishing to advance their nursing careers. The deadline for this scholarship application is September 1st.

JRTI Scholarship for Advancement in Nursing°: For James Rumsey Technical Institute qualified Practical Nursing program graduates.

Future Nurses of Martinsburg°: Supports students attending our Martinsburg, WV location pursuing nursing careers.

Future Nurses of Parkersburg°: Supports students attending our Parkersburg, WV location pursuing nursing careers.

Future Nurses of Wheeling**: Supports students attending our Wheeling, WV location pursuing nursing careers.

BSN Pathway**: For qualified alums of our associate degree in nursing program.

RN-BSN Nurse Educator Tuition Assistance**: West Virginia Junior College recognizes the need for nursing professionals in our communities. Additional nurse educators are needed to educate more nurses.

Nurses Touch Lives^: For nursing students demonstrating the potential to excel in a practical nursing career.

High School Scholarships*

Early Admission: For eligible high school students who complete the application process and deadlines prior to November 15th.

College Commitment: For eligible high school students committed to community betterment.

Stephen A. Callen Memorial: Honors WVJC’s founder and his vision for offering West Virginians a quality, affordable education leading to career and personal satisfaction.

Imagine America Scholarship: For seniors recommended by their guidance counselors.

Online, hybrid locations are tied to specific residential campuses. Our Beckley and Huntington locations are associated with our Charleston campus. Martinsburg and Parkersburg locations are associated with our Bridgeport campus. Wheeling and our Online Hybrid rural locations, which include Greenbrier, Logan, Roane, and Elkins areas, are associated with our Morgantown/Online campus.

Nursing Tuition Assistance Opportunities

Mon Scholars: Offered to student nurses through Mon Health Medical Center attending the online/hybrid Mon Health program out of our Morgantown campus. A two-year employee commitment is required. 

CAMC: Offered to nursing students through Charleston Area Medical Center attending the Charleston, Huntington, or Beckley online/hybrid programs or the residential campus. A three to five-year employee commitment is required.

WVU Medicine Thomas: Offered to nursing students through WVU Medicine’s Thomas Memorial Hospital attending the Charleston, Huntington, or Beckley online/hybrid programs or the residential campus. A commitment of one month for every $500 received is required.

Raleigh General: This is offered to nursing students through Raleigh General Hospital who attend the Beckley online/hybrid program. Students who accept will have an employee commitment of three years. 

Davis Medical Center: This is offered to student nurses through Davis Medical Center who attend the online hybrid rural program. Students who accept will have an employee commitment of one to three years. 

Beckley Appalachian Regional Healthcare System: Offered to nursing students through Raleigh General Hospital attending the online/hybrid program out of Beckley. A three-year employee commitment is required.
