What You’ll Learn
As a WVJC nursing student, you will not only learn the nursing process but also apply it in real-world scenarios to promote the health of individuals, families, and communities. Mastering fundamental nursing skills, such as medical terminology, pharmacology, nutrition, anatomy and physiology, is a key part of our curriculum. Our training program is designed to equip you with the essential knowledge and skills required to become a versatile and successful nurse.
In addition to providing students with knowledge through classroom instruction and hands-on experience during labs and clinicals, the WVJC Nursing program also prepares students to sit for the National Council Licensure Examination for Registered Nurses (NCLEX-RN)* upon completion of the program.
Your Nursing Career
Registered nurses can be found in numerous settings, including hospitals, clinics, doctor’s offices, and more. According to the Bureau of Labor Statistics, employment opportunities for registered nurses are expected to continue to rise by 6% from 2022-2032. These numbers represent a national average; employment needs can vary by state and area.
Because nurses are essential members of the healthcare team, their opportunities for educational advancement are vast. Training within the nursing field starts at the associate degree level and can expand as far as a doctoral degree.
An added benefit of attending WVJC Morgantown’s associate degree nursing program is that students will complete their degree requirements and be prepared to sit for the NCLEX-RN* exam in only 18 months. Then, if they choose to further their education, they can enroll in the WVJC Online RN to BSN program to earn their bachelor’s degree in an additional year. This pathway allows students to become a BSN in less than three years compared to the four to six years that it takes, on average, at a traditional nursing school.

How Our Nursing Training Is Different
WVJC Morgantown’s Nursing program is especially beneficial for students who aim to get trained, prepare to take their nursing boards*, and enter the workforce in less time. Our program is direct admission, which means that students who meet institutional requirements and are accepted into the program will begin taking nursing courses immediately without the need for unnecessary prerequisites.
Another benefit of our nursing training program is the schedule. Evening classes give students some flexibility to complete their studies and homework and balance their lives outside of school. Because the program is completed in an accelerated format, students can expect to be challenged academically. Still, the WVJC staff and faculty are here for support every step of the way.
